All plated jewelry will tarnish over time due to general wear, moisture, naturally occurring oils on skin and exposure to air. The speed at which the gold plating fades will depend on multiple factors, including (and not limited to) the chemical level of your skincare products, level of perspiration, and even your natural skin PH. 

 

Avoid Moisture

Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, cleansers or other liquids. While our items are waterproof, chemicals could cause damage to the jewellery. 

This means skin & hair products too! Avoid swimming with your jewellery; chlorine and other chemicals in indoor pools and salt water can introduce damage. If your pieces come in contact with moisture, gently wipe clean with a soft cloth.

 

Clean

Regularly cleaning your pieces helps to avoid the residue buildup that can dull the original shine. After each wear, wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth before putting away.

 

Store Safely

Always store your cleaned jewelry in a sealed bag or box. Store in a cool, dry place  (ie. not in your bathroom) to limit exposure to moisture and oxygen. When not being worn, store in a safe, dry place to protect against the elements of daily exposure.

 

As a general tip, your jewelry should be the last thing you put on in the AM and the first thing to take off.
